LED’s appear to be a new technology but in fact have been around since 1962! Only recently have they been in use for automotive forward lighting systems.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How does LED Work?”]Two layers of semiconductors are placed directly together. One side being positive and the other side negative. When voltage is applied to the layers, electrons travel through them and release photons at the junction. This creates light. The energy gap of the material used determines the color or wavelength.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What does HID stand for?”]HID is short for High Intensity Discharge.  HID was also developed in the 1960’s. Automotive HID lights have been in use since BMW introduced them on the 7-series in 1991.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How does HID Work?”]A HID light produces light through an arc when a high voltage travels between two tungsten electrodes combines with a gas mixture of halide salts. This produces an intense white light much more efficient than halogen or incandescent. A combination of two or more metal halides allows for a variety of colors or kelvin.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Are all LED’s & HIDs created equal?”]A common question is why are our products more expensive than some other websites?
